During his time at WDAF, Walt was instrumental in creating talk shows for radio and television.

Conversation — Co-hosted with Jean Glenn. broadcast at 1:00 pm from Bretton’s Restaurant at 12th & Baltimore. Guests included Charleton Heston, Rock Hudson, Robert Kennedy, Julie London, James Michener and Buddy Rich.

Insight — Co-hosted with WDAF news anchor Bill Leeds, this prime-time program was broadcast on TV and radio simultaneously.Guests included statesmen such as Dean Acheson and Chester Bowles, artist Thomas Hart Benton and anchorman Chet Huntley.
